My studio in Newdigate will be open from Friday to Sunday 11am-5pm each weekend.

I have lots of art and gifts to browse and buy. As some of you know, I am based on a beautiful farm, with a pub just down the road! Am I selling it to you yet?!

I am happy to be part of the South Dorking Art Trail, a group of 8 artists all near each other. We have lots of beautiful pieces of art and sculpture to see.

I have been developing my local landscapes collection, using my bright and semi fractured style. I’m pleased to say that Denbies Vineyard are now stocking the local scene cards, as well as Village Greens in Ockley.

It’s wonderful to get a new customer reach, as times are quite tough for us artists at the moment!

Coombe Street Gallery in Lyme Regis continue to stock my Lyme painting prints, canvas prints and cards. I have also recently created a new painting for the collection featuring the wonderful Mary Anning statue (above middle left) and these will also be for sale in the near future in the gallery.

The Theo Paphitis Small Business Sunday Awards Event!

The Day I met Theo!

On Friday 24th February I woke up incredibly early and travelled up to the ICC Birmingham for my date with the SBS crowd and Theo Paphitis!

Back in 2021, I won the Small Business Sunday award that Theo Paphitis holds every Sunday on Twitter to small businesses all over the UK. It was such an exciting thing to happen to me and my business, and according to Theo, only 0.8% of entrants actually win.

As part of the award, Theo holds the SBS Event every year, for all winners. It's held in the ICC and is a series of lectures, speeches and advice from prestigious people and companies. Theo spoke to us for half an hour, congratulating us all, and offering advice and sharing his knowledge.

The highlight for me was when Mark Blundell, the former Formula One racing driver, who sat down with Theo for the 'Fireside Chat'. His story was amazing, and particularly love his quote to have 'the will to win', to succeed in business.

Owen O'Kane was also very inspiring! His presentation about 'Healthy Business, healthy mind' was incredibly useful.

We also had Kirstie Kavannagh from Google tell us invaluable advice about increasing our visibility on the search engine. It's now on my to do list!

At the end of the day, those of us who had not yet collected our winner certificate, were asked to queue up, receive our award and meet Theo! It's still quite a surreal moment! I gave him a print of my artwork 'The Final Lap', to which he replied, 'oooh, thank you! Mark would love this too!' I said, 'yep! I have one for him also!' He promised he would pass it on.

Now I'm back down to earth in my studio, I am buzzing with ideas for pushing my artwork and business forward. So, watch this space!

Finalist in Website of the Year, and Best in Show categories!

How nice is it to have events starting again?! After 2 long years of waiting, the prestigious Fine Art Trade Guild awards are finally happening 14-15th May in Stratford on Avon. It will be so nice to see everyone from the Guild again after such a long time!

This year I entered 'Website of the Year', and also submitted three Fractured drawings online for 'Best in Show', which then went to a public vote! I was absolutely chuffed to find out that 'The Elegant Flotilla' was in the top three! I am now one of the three fabulous artists all in the running for the award.

As for Website of the Year, I am incredibly proud of this one. I put a lot of time and effort into revamping my website back in 2018, with the brilliantly talented Alpa Cox from PM Getting it Done. We worked together to develop the site to make it look crisp, modern and full of information. I think we succeeded!

I can't wait for the gala evening at the Crowne Plaza, it'll be so nice to get dressed up again and sit down for a posh dinner!

Royal Miniature Society Exhibition

Tiffany gets a piece accepted into the prestigious 125th Royal Miniature Society Annual Exhibition.

As you can see from the size of grin on her face, Tiffany is chuffed to bits to have 'The Bridge', a coloured pencil piece accepted into the exhibition at The Mall Galleries. The work on show is amazing, and so small!

Tiffany began creating miniatures in lockdown, as a challenge to herself. She also became a member of the Hilliard Miniature Society, and has also exhibited with them.

You can see the RMS exhibition until the 5th December, in London, just down the road from our Patron, Prince Charles' mum's house!

Tiffany's drawing 'Small Dominant' gets selected for prestigious exhibition

Tiffany's drawing 'Small Dominant' has been selected for the ING Discerning Art Prize which normally exhibits at the Mall Galleries.

The Discerning Eye annual exhibition is a show of small works independently selected by six prominent figures from different areas of the art world: two artists, two collectors and two critics.

The selectors choose both publicly submitted works and works by personally invited artists. Each selector's section is hung separately to give each its own distinctive identity. The impression emerges of six small exhibitions within the whole.

It provides an unusual opportunity for works by lesser-known artists to be hung alongside contributions from internationally recognised names. The selectors are solely responsible for their own selection; selection is not by committee. The only restrictions are limitation of size (only small works are permitted) and to select at least 25% of their section from the open submission.

For the first time in its history, this year's exhibition is being held 100% virtually and the open submission process was entirely online. A virtual gallery will open on 19 November and run until 31 December 2020 showcasing the artists' shortlisted works with commentary and introductions by the selectors. There will be a new facility enabling the purchase of works directly online.

A new decade and a new studio

Tiffany moves to a larger studio in Newdigate

Tiffany took the plunge this month and has taken rental on a wonderful studio situated on a farm in Newdigate. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside, it is a fabulous area to come and visit Tiffany. The studio has a separate 'shop' area where her prints and mall paintings are displayed.

Keeping me Busy!

I am thrilled to announce that my next solo show will be held at the gorgeous Bourneside Gallery, North Street in Dorking from the 1st-12th October 2019 as part of Mole Valley Arts Alive Event.

I will be showing a selection of Fractured paintings and Rainbow Animals! I will try to be there every day so come along as say hello!

I have also been very busy working on a series of 7, 1 x 1metre Fractured City paintings of offices in London, Glasgow and Los Angeles. These have been amazing to paint and I have now come to the end of the 6 month commission! Below is one of the large paintings I completed for Glasgow. The Glasgow University Clock Tower.

Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2018

My day as a Wildcard Artist

Blink and you would have missed me! However, being a #Wildcard #Artist for SkyArts Landscape Artist of the year was just brilliant.
The camaraderie of us 50 artists was wonderful, like we were in a club. There was no malice or jealousy, just fun and friendship and trying to dodge the seagulls that swooped down on you they spotted any food! I hid underneath an umbrella whilst I ate my lunch.
The cameras were slightly daunting, as they were really in your face! I ended up fluffing up my words on the first take, and the producer said to me ‘now put that into a sentence!’ �� My excuse was that I had only just set up and was a bit of a dither!
Four hours went by really quickly, but I managed to finish my piece. I had a bit of a chin wag with the current presenter, Stephen Mangan, he was very funny indeed! All the judges prowled about, making us all very nervous.
Once finished, The judges made some lovely comments to me about my drawing, and others around me thought I may have won.....I didn’t. But I wasn’t upset, it was a truly magical day, the winner was so gorgeous and I wish her all the luck in the future. We chatted for a while while having a cuppa.
I will most definitely apply again next year. It was an amazing day.

Spring News from Tiffany Budd

After a very successful solo show at Denbies Picture Gallery, I am now safely ensconced back in my studio, keeping warm and creating new work and completing commissions from the show. It is now the season of applying to open exhibitions and competitions. I must have applied to just over 8 shows, hoping for success and artistic validation. The good news is that I have heard back from two, very important shows. Firstly, The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. I have been shortlisted out of over 15,000 entries with a small coloured pencil drawing called 'Little City'. The next step in the process is to deliver the work up to the academy and keep my fingers crossed! Can you all do that for me too?!Another show I am thrilled to have two drawings accepted for is the UK Coloured Pencil Society open Exhibition. This will make it my 10th year of being juried in, and therefore gain my Gold Status. The show opens in May at Stratford on Avon.

On the 16th May, I will be at the Art and Framing Roadshow with the Fine Art Trade Guild.

I will be bringing a selection of work which will be for sale. This includes prints, colouring books, and original paintings ans drawings.

Autumn News and shows

Hello all! Is it Autumn already?! Crikey, where did the summer go? It felt like there was a definite 'off' switch just before the children went back to school!

I am pleased to say I had a very successful Denbies solo show in April, and have booked another one (my fifth) in January 2018! I do love showing my work there. The variation of visitors, that perhaps wouldn't normally visit an art exhibition is brilliant.

I have also become a member of the Surrey Art Fairs Group. The next pop up art exhibition is this Sunday 1st October at Gatton Park, Reigate. I have decided to exhibit and sell (hopefully) my pastel landscapes as Gatton is quite a tradtional and beautiful place, which I didn't think my Fractured work would fit necessarily.

I have also been invited to take part in the Shere Art Fair, on the 21st October. It is the beginning of the Christmas (shhh don't say that word!) events! More details to follow. I also update my Facebook page on a daily basis, so do please pop along there. www.facebook.com/tiffanybuddfineart

Another solo show, and other stories......

Well here we are, spring has finally arrived! Although looking outdoors right now, I am finding it hard to believe- I am looking at hailstones and listening to thunder!

I've been working with The Weald School for these past few months, creating 3 murals based on the school ethics and beliefs. It has been an absolute pleasure working with the head mistress and the pupils so closely. Below are the murals I completed. The third one, based on their 'Habits of Mind' is almost complete!

In other news. In April, I am holding another solo exhibition at Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking, Surrey. This is my fourth time I have exhibited there. It's such a lovely place, and a great day out. I will be exhibiting almost 100 original paintings, miniatures, pebble paintings and unframed originals and a few prints.It begins on Monday 3rd April from 9.30 and ends Sunday 9th at 5.00pm. I will be there every day, painting, so do come and say hello!

Finally, I am thrilled and honoured to have been shortlisted for 'Up & Coming Artist' by the Fine Art Trade Guild. The awards ceremony will take place in May, and I won't know if I have won until then. Here is a list of the nominees - Good luck to us all!

Happy New Year!

One of my New Year Resolutions is to make a concerted effort to update my blog more than twice a year. Huge apologies for my tardiness! And I wish you all a very Happy New Year.

Last year I left you in the midst of the Surrey Cow Parade. I completed Leafy Moo, and then was asked again to paint another cow, in two weeks! This one was for Kier Construction, in aid of Alzeimers Research. I managed to design and complete her in time!

They were then auctioned off, along with 20 others at Sandown Racecourse in September. They both raised a total of just over £8,000! I was thrilled to bits and it was a fabulous gala evening. I am grateful to still be in contact with Cherry Tree's Respite home, and have donated my time to them to create an ongoing mural for their reception area.

I also created a mini Leafy Moo as a souvenir from the Surrey Cow Parade! Continuing my muraling (is that a word?!) I am now working with The Weald Primary School, Beare Green, Surrey, creating 4 murals for the front area of the school. Here's the first one, in place. It looks small- But it's 2 metres by 1 metre highAnother two have just been delivered, but are not in place yet. My next one will be designed with a very talented student at the school on Monday!

At the end of 2016, I created a new Christmas colouring book, to sit alongside my Fractured colouring book, and Alphabet Animal book. It sold well, and hopefully keep going all year! I have plans to create another book. This time a meditiative, relaxing theme.

I have been very busy with numerous commissions for my customers. Working closely with clients is something which inspires me and I find incredibly enjoyable. Two paintings which were requested, was from a gentleman who works for Wasps rugby club. He loved my Fractured style, especially the sport paintings. He kindly sent me reference photos of the team members and then developed two acrylic paintings based on them, their speed and their movement. I hope I have achieved the dynamism!

An award I have recently won was from the 'Light, Space Time Gallery'. I entered this piece below - The Jewellery Box. This is a little different for me as I generally don't copy photographs. However, I staged and positioned these items for the photo, so I guess there was a bit of creativity there! It is completed in coloured pencil, which is becoming a firm favourite for me as a medium. I have also just joined The Australian Coloured Pencil Society to add to my list of memberships!

Next on the list is a new solo exhibition at one of my favourite venues, Denbies Wine Estate. It will be taking place there from Monday the 3rd April until Sunday the 9th. I will be exhibiting original artwork, my published books, sculpture and painted animals, inspired by my taking part in the cow parade! I hope you will come and visit me as I will be there every day painting.

Surrey Artists Open Studios

It's that time of year again, when Surrey's artists open up their studios to the public!

I am open this weekend- 11th and 12th June from 11am until 5pm, and the following weekend of the 18th and 19th.

All the details are on the Surrey Artists Open Studios website. I am part of an 'art trail' should you wish to make a day of it and see other artists local to myself! I am number 50. Look out for the orange balloons and signs!

Also on show, will be 'Leafy Cow'! I have been sponsored by Hart Brown solicitors to paint a life sized cow in my design as part of the Surrey Cow Parade. This is a big art event throughout Surrey, with many artists and sponsors taking part. Each artist paints a cow in a design they submitted, then is displayed around Surrey, mine will hopefully be outside Debenhams in Guildford! Eventually it will be auctioned off for the sponsors chosen charity- Hart Browns is Cherry Trees.

A wonderful end to a busy year!

This year has been great. I have been doing lots of different work, commissions and projects. It's been a lot of fun. I have increased my working hours to accommodate demand. I finally finished the St Marys School mural, where there was a presentation with the school governor, vicar, headmaster and the pupils. It was a lovely ending ceremony to the project. I received the most enormous bouquet of stunning flowers!

Three book releases!

I hope you've all had a lovely summer! I spent most of it with my children, fitting in artwork where I could! The joy of being an artist is that you can create paintings in your head, ready for when you get back into the studio. I was still armed however, with my camera and sketchbook at all times!

In September I published my first book. A 'how to' book of how to create my Fractured style of art. It contains various step by step projects and ideas of doing your own painting. It has been selling nice and steadily, often getting most sales when I do my demonstrations at Art societies. It is called 'Look at it Differently and create a Fractured painting' and is available from Amazon with free delivery, for £16.00.

I also began to notice the increase in adult colouring books. My mum, last year, said I should do a colouring book in my Fractured style, and so began the idea in my head. I have now produced a book, 'The Fractured Art of Tiffany Budd'. The book has 20 outlines, based on my Fractured paintings, ready for you to fill in, in your own colour way! It has one page of the full colour paintings as inspiration, but don't feel like you have to copy them. This is available also from Amazon, for £12.99.

This week is also a big week, as I have released my third book, a children's colouring book! Alphabet Animals. 26 pages of letter and animals which children and young at heart will love to colour in!

The Creatives- Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking, Surrey

To get myself properly, 'back in the saddle' I have organised a week's exhibition at Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking. I have exhibited there twice before as a solo show, but this time invited other fantastic artists and craftspeople to show their work too.It began on Monday, and I will be there until Sunday.

We have artists showing glass design, lino prints, landscape paintings and wood. It's all fabulous, and I really think there is something for everyone.

I will be there Thursday 16th, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th, when we take everything down.

Here's a little peek at what it looks like! I hope to see some of you there!

In my last post, I left you all on tenterhooks as to whether I won the Caran D'ache competition. (Sorry about that! Turns out looking after two very active children, left me little time to dedicate to my artwork). Well I'm pleased to say that I came 2nd! It was an extremely fun evening and met a lot of interesting people including the CEO of Caran D'Ache Jean Paul Saussure. I put a few names to faces too.Here's me receiving my prize and flowers with the CEO. And me by my painting!

I'm back!After a fairly troublesome pregnancy, I'm pleased to say I gave birth to William in June. He was fine and dandy at a healthy 6lb 7oz, but I was a little bit poorly and had to have a blood transfusion after the c-section. It's taken me a while to get back to normal, but I'm pleased to say I'm almost there!My artwork has been a therapy for me, and I snatch half an hour here and there in between nappy changes and organising a 5 year old's social life, which is more exciting than mine ever was...or is!The first big thing I'm doing is a workshop in Reigate, Surrey on the 14th September- called 'Exciting Abstracts'. I'll be teaching how to do my Fractured paintings in a more abstract way.http://www.art-events.co.uk/programme.phpThis is the link to it if you fancy coming along.My next project is a month long exhibition showing numerous works in Coloured Pencil. Which is a quite underrated medium. It is so brilliantly versatile and you can get real control of your marks. This lends itself to doing really detailed work both abstract and realistic.I have been entering competitions also while grabbing my moments! Caran D'Ache are hosting a competition using just 6 of their gorgeous Aquarelle waterbased coloured pencils. I have entered two pieces in my Fractured style. These are they!A Tuscan SunsetThe Colour FieldsEven if I'm not successful, I thoroughly enjoyed using them. Water based pencils are not normally my first choice of pencils, so I was pleasantly surprised!Another venture I am having is having 6 Fractured paintings on display at Atishoo Gallery in Cornwall. Blooming Marvellous!

Well, we are now well and truly settled into the New Year, and I don't know about you but I'm desperate for Spring to burst into bloom and fell some warmth in that sun of ours!When finally we get to February (which seems to take AGES!), I do feel the plants and bulbs itching to pop out of the ground, and now, the other thing which is bursting into bloom, is me! I am 19 weeks pregnant, and very, very excited!Mother and Child. (part of a triptych)I was demonstrating my Fractured technique at Virginia Water Art Society last night, and we were discussing pregnancy and art. Do the hormones which are racing around my system alter my creativity? Does the choice of subject change, or the colour scheme? It got me thinking.....and I thought, I wonder how interesting it would be to do a sketch, drawing/painting, every day from now, until the birth day?My lovely husband bought me, for our Anniversary, a beautiful leather bound sketchbook. Seeing as I have this, gorgeous red book, it would seem rude not to use it!My leather sketchbook, waiting to be filled!I will post my drawings one a week, as every day might be a bit ambitious (and along with a full time job, a 5 year old and preparing the nursery time will be of the essence!)It will be intriguing to see what I do!The Three Swimmers- Virginia Water demo pieceOther things that are happening are submissions for exhibitions and competitions. I love this time of year as you really can do 'what you want', unless of course there is a theme!I am yet again attempting to get work accepted into the very difficult Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. There are so many entrants, and a very strict/unpredictable judging panel. This is what I have decided to enter, it is relatively small and a watercolour, but quite contemporary.A town like ValparaisoI will be back soon! The Pregnancy and Art project will now begin!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New year.I don't know about you, but after all the festivities, I really enjoy getting back to 'normality', whatever that is!My creative juices have been flowing since the holidays ended and the sketchbook has been getting filled with ideas!I was sitting down drawing with my 5 year old daughter last week and ended up doodling a sketch of a tree. It really came together in my head.This is the sketch, and typically it was done on lined paper!After a week of pondering and deciding what surface to do it on, I settled for my favourite, pastels on Colourfix paper.'Tree of Life'. by Tiffany Budd. 45cm x 45cm. £200I had a wonderful start to the New Year. I received an e mail from an exhibition organiser, who is also an interior designer, requesting my floral paintings urgently! I call her up and it turns out she is wanting to buy 8-10 originals for the Viking River Cruises boats. She came to my studio and ended up taking 12. Just brilliant! So, if you are lucky enough to go on one of these cruises, in Holland, you may see my florals in your room!Now onto my next project. The Derwent Art Prize!

A trip up north!

Next month I will be travelling up to the Derwent Pencil Museum to hold a 3 day workshop and demo session. I will be showing and helping visitors create my Fractured landscapes in Coloursoft Pencils. The dates are 3-5th July at Keswick, Lake District. If you are around then, please pop in! There is lots to see and do at the museum, including the worlds largest pencil! Also in July, you may be aware that the Olympics are starting (!!) Therefore, I decided to get in the spirit of the sports and am exhibiting a new collection of work entitled, 'Our Great Britain'. This not only will have sporting paintings in it, but also a collection of British landscapes not dissimilar to the ones above I will doing at Keswick. It will be at Dittons Library Gallery once again. After the success of the last one, they have invited me back to exhibit once again. The dates for this are :- 17th July until the 11th August 2012. Thames Ditton Library Gallery, Mercer Close, Thames Ditton, Surrey.This is the type of thing you can expect!The Speed Skater. 13cm x 18cm Watercolour. £100The Cyclists. 50cm x 20cm. I entered the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition once again this year, and once again I was rejected. I was not surprised as there were over 11,00 entries, for not much wall space! However I was not too unduly disappointed as I had a lovely studio visit from a young couple, who found me on the Surrey Artists Open Studios website, who promptly purchased the rejected painting! It was meant to be. This is the painting they gave a good home too. It was one of my favourites.Crummock Water. 50cm x 60cm. Acrylic.I am also in the process of creating new paintings for contests and waiting to hear news from the ones I've entered. Always a nervous time........!

New Exhibition- A Little Bit of Everything

So there I was, visiting my local library choosing some books for me and my daughter today, when I noticed that their lovely art gallery area was empty. Now, I have a real soft spot for this space as it was where I had my first ever solo exhibition. The staff have always supported me and my work, which I am extremely grateful for. I asked if there were any artists exhibiting work in the next couple of months, and there weren't! So I decided, why not? Let's do it!!!! I have now got 5 days to get it all ready, and as well as that, another demonstration to do at Tandridge Art Society. I will need a holiday soon! The exhibition will be a mix of styles and themes, with a price tag to suit everyone.The dates are 15th March until 5th April. Tues 9am-7pm Wed 9am-5pm. New paintings and a workshop

Last Saturday I undertook a workshop for people who wanted to learn how to create my Fractured style of painting, using pastels. It was in Wokingham, and had a nice group of 8 people. We all brought lunch and a mug so we didn't starve and could be refuelled with tea and coffee when necessary!I started the workshop by explaining how I came about creating this style of work, and began my own piece of bottles and glasses on a rough paper called Coloursoft. This paper feels like a sandpaper, but smoother. Enough for the pastel to stick to and it makes the colour 'zing'. I brought a selection of smaller pieces of this paper for the students to use, which they did. I showed them how to work each section as an individual area and working out each line and light direction.I hope they all enjoyed the day and they created some truly wonderful artwork. Isn't that frog brilliant?!Here are some of the paintings they did, and also a great group shot!I obviously didn't get my piece completed as I was helping everyone with their own piece, so have just now finished my pastel painting.After Hours- Derwent Pastels and Pencils. 50cm x 36cm.Every year, when Autumn arrives, I inevitably create an Autumnal painting showing the wonderful colours that are out there. This year I have created a painting using acrylic on a chunky canvas.Autumnal Tree Leaves. 60cm x 50cmAt the end of the month I have this years Oxshott Art and Crafts Society exhibition. I am exhibiting 3 framed paintings and 3 unframed paintings. It is being held at Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking, Surrey from the 31st October until the 6th November. Come and pay a visit! Gatwick commission

Walkway to the skies Things are once again busy for me, which is great.I had a phone call out of the blue about a month ago from a gentleman who wanted to commission me two large paintings for a new Wetherspoons pub based in the South Terminal at Gatwick airport. I obviously jumped at the chance! The only downside was that they had to be completed in 3 weeks! That was pushing it, but I knew I could just about manage it...with a few late nights involved!He wanted the paintings in my Fractured style, something, he said, that was exactly what he was looking for! The pub, was to be called The Beehive. Based on one of the first ever departure terminal buildings in the UK. It is very Art Deco in style, and wonderful building.This is what The Beehive building looks like now.I was sent numerous photos, style boards and plans from the buildings architects, and from that began to sketch out ideas for the painting.Both paintings are 1.1m x 1m and 1.2m x 90cm respectively. And varnished for protection. 'Fracturing the Beehive'The pub is opening on the 30th August, on landside. I'm due to go in September so will hopefully see them up then!!
